Mesh cleanup and remeshing guides

File too large, model missing from the preview, or holes after reduction? Start with the guide for that problem. For scans and AI-generated models, follow the cleanup steps before changing the polygon count.

Ready to try a remesh?

Open a copy in the browser remesher. It exports geometry-only OBJ, so keep your original textures and materials. Check the result for missing faces before using it in another application.

What do you need to fix?

A useful order for checking a mesh

  1. Choose the destination. A static scene, animated asset, and physical print need different checks. Decide which details and data must survive before changing geometry.
  2. Inspect the source. Confirm its format, dimensions, visible parts, and texture dependencies. Keep an untouched copy so a failed cleanup can be discarded.
  3. Change one thing at a time. Try a conservative operation, inspect the surface, and record the settings. Avoid stacking several destructive passes before checking the first result.
  4. Reopen the actual export. A preview is useful, but the downstream application must be able to read the saved file. Check materials, dimensions, and geometry again there.

Using the browser tool

You can open OBJ, STL, ASCII PLY, and OFF files below 25 MB. Start with the tutorial for import and export steps, or check the settings reference for face targets and preservation options. For texture baking, hole repair, rigging, or STL export, continue in Blender or another desktop modeling tool.
